Truth. And Nothing makes me happier than a pretty girl with a good challenge.

That is the deal we think we’re making when we decide to let social convention determine how we behave.
Being a “lady” means we let ourselves be shamed, be restricted. It means that we mold ourselves to the demands of hegemonic masculinty for the promise that if we do, then maybe guys will be nice to us.
Instead of expecting to be treated decently because that’s what we deserve, not as women, but as human beings.
And I’m not even going to get into how being lady-like and meeting society’s expectations of femininity is a double-bind, catch-22 anyways, so the entire endeavor is bound to be unrewarding.
Fuck being a “lady”. I’d rather just be myself.

[Trigger warning: anti-woman slurs, non-explicit mention of rape and abuse]
Also, fun fact: I may be but a humble single data point, but every Traditional Gentlemanly dude I’ve ever known has turned out to be quite the misogynistic ass. The only women they treat like “ladies” are the ones who fit what they think A Woman Should Act Like. They treat women somewhat decently as long as they don’t dress too skimpily, don’t act too sexual, don’t swear, don’t speak up too much, don’t drink, don’t do drugs, don’t have a lot of guy friends, and/or a bunch of other arbitrarily determined and defined behaviors. All the other chicks? Cunts, whores, sluts, deserving of rape, abuse, disrespect…they pretty much revoke their basic human decency from everyone of that gender who doesn’t behave precisely as they want them to. That’s not a reasonable standard for determining respect, that’s some major abuser-style shit.
Fuck those guys. I’ll take people who treat me like a free human being with the right to determine my own lifestyle.
